This toolkit proposes a strategy to address the structures, institutions, and the determinants that shape health equity. Health equity is understood as everyone's right to fair and just opportunities to be as healthy as possible. It centers the power of parks and open spaces, and arts and culture as conduits for community building. The toolkit shows how they can be used to heal communities, build social capital, and mobilize residents to be agents of change for improving the conditions that impact their health.

A multi-voiced compilation of language guidelines created by community members, grassroots leaders, activists, and progressive funders in the U.S. It aims to combat discriminatory language and to promote a broad range of identities and perspectives when writing, speaking and using images. The guide is divided in issues' areas, such as age, disability, gender, and race. To each of them, it provides writing guidelines, recommendations, what to use and what to avoid.

"Creating and preserving affordable housing and other community-owned assets in Canada is more critical than ever given the rapid escalation of real estate costs and the relative stagnation of wages in major urban markets. This makes the need for the non-profit sector to increase its real estate development capacity even more critical. New Commons Development and a number of its collaborators are working to promote and facilitate this capacity building in the sector, while building and preserving affordable housing and community real estate that stays where it belongs – in the hands of the community. ...this toolkit [is] targeted at assisting community developers to work effectively with municipalities in assessing affordable housing needs in their community and understanding program and policy opportunities."
